Methodology and sources

Where the data comes from

"Checked against an official register" is a sentence anyone can write. This page exists so you can check ours: here are the actual bodies, the type of register each data point comes from, and what we do when there is no register worth using.

Official registers

A data point marked as verified means the entity is named in one of these registers. It does not mean we have spoken to them.

Sources that are not official registers

The rest of the dataset comes from industry directories, collaborative open mapping, trade associations, and companies' own corporate websites. They are useful to know something exists; they prove nothing. No organisation sourced only from these appears as verified, here or on its profile page.

Why there are no links on this page

We name the body and the type of register, but not the exact address or how it is extracted. The hard part of this work was never writing the scraper: it was discovering that these registers exist and what each one publishes. Anyone who knows the sector can check on their own that the ANSM publishes that list — which is exactly the point.

Rules we always apply

Gaps

A missing data point stays empty

If the register does not publish the address, the profile carries no address. Nothing is inferred, nothing is filled in with what seems likely, and nothing is copied from a similar company.

Contact

No direct emails or phone numbers

We publish an entity's identity, sourced from public registers. We do not publish personal contact detail: a large share of this sector is sole traders, where the company's data and personal data are the same thing.

Date

Every profile carries its verification date

A public register changes. Knowing that a data point was checked on a specific date is part of the data. Last consolidation of the dataset: 18 August 2026.
